Cognitum pond

Mare Cognitum (sea of Knowledge) is a lunar Mare located on the second ring of the basin Procellarum. The basin goes back to the lower imbrien, while the basaltic material dates from the higher imbrien. The assembly line Montes Riphaeus is in the North-West of this sea.

The place of landing of Apollo 14, FRA Mauro, is near Mare Cognitum.
