Geography
Located at the west of Vichy, on N209, the commune consists of 2 villages: Cognate and Lyonne apart 2 km.
History
January 6th, 1568 takes place the battle of Cognate between the Protestant army and the catholic army. The 4.000 Protestants, who plundered Vichy the day before, beat the catholics. During this battle, the chief protesting François Poncenat is killed, by error, one of his soldiers. The lord of Hautefeuille, Jean of Fayette, one of the catholic chiefs, finds death at the time of the engagements. The Protestants leave to join Condé in Orleans. The village of Cognate and the castle of Hautefeuille are destroyed during this battle, the castle was located close to the current church.
