Cognac Yacht Rowing Club

The Cognac Yacht Rowing Club is the club of Aviron of the Communauté of communes of Cognac. It was born from the fusion of two clubs the Yacht and the Rowing located of the two with dimensions ones of the same arm of the Charente.

The club is classified 33e French club in 2006 by the French federation. == history == The Cognac Rowing Club was created in 1864 and its pontoon and its buildings were with the site of the current club. Then in 1877 the Cognac Yacht Club was created almost opposite on the same arm of the Charente. The fusion of the two clubs in 1964 gave rise to the Cognac Yacht Rowing Club (C.Y.R.C.) after a vote proposing the C.R.Y.C and the C.Y.R.C.

The C.Y.R.C is an association law 1901 affiliated at the French federation of the Companies of Oar declared of public utility and counsel by the Ministry for Youth and the Sports. The club profits from the title of French School of Oar and since 2006, it is also affiliated at the handisport French federation.

Over season 2006/2007 the club had 193 registered voters.

One can note there the constancy of the presence of the club since 1964 in very honourable places with 27 championships of France, 5 of champion of France ESA and various international participations.

equipment and activities

The club has a park with boats (65 boats) with its repair shop, a tank to row, three rooms of musculation, a room " ERGO" , an office and of an club-house completely rebuilt which will be inaugurated in September 2007.

The practice of the oar was always possible there on the level leisure as on the level competition for all the levels and all the ages as from 11 years. Cycles discovered are organized in the Cognac schools for classes of CM2 and cycles of initiation are proposed to the teenagers and to the adults.

The section leisure proposes exits: descent of Charente, crossing of Paris, descent of the channel of the South, celebrates Oar with Cognac….
