Code obligations

The Code of the obligations is a legal text being part of the Swiss Private law. It is in fact the 5th book of the Swiss Civil code. Its exact title is Federal law of March 30th, 1911 supplementing the Swiss civil code (Book fifth: Right of the obligations) . It regulates the obligations in Swiss Private law, exits mainly of the contract and the civil responsibility.

History

The Code of the obligations was adopted by the federal Parliament on March 30th, 1911 and came into effect on March 1st, 1912. It underwent since 14 abrogations and 50 modifications. Its current state is with the May 3rd, 2005 . Its number of RS is 220.
