Cockney Rejects

The Cockney Rejects are a group of Oi! British, originating in the London district of East End which was formed in 1979. According to their Web site and other sources, the Oi song! Oi! Oi! of their album Greatest Hits Volume 2 would be at the origin of the name of the musical style.

Biography

It was the singer, Jimmy Pursey, of the group Sham 69 which helped the group to unearth their first contract of recording. First LPs of the group appeared under the humorous title of Greatest Hits volume 1,2 and 3. Their larger song with success in the United Kingdom was The Greatest Cockney RIP-Off, a parody of the song Hersham Boys of Sham 69. The other songs of Cockney Rejets were less commercial, partly because it tended to have for subject the street battles and hooliganism. This violence was sometimes reflected in their concerts and the members of the group took there sometimes share. Jeff and Mick Geggus, which are two brothers, have every both summer of the boxers recognized amateurs who went to the national scales.

Cockney Rejects were also supporters of the team of West Ham United. Their success I' m Forever Blowing Bubbles comes from a song of supporters of West Ham, which was sung since 1920.

In the words of their songs, Cockney Rejects regularly expressed their contempt for all the politicians. Also they rejettèrent the charges of the media to support and/or belong to British Movement. In their first audio interview, they made fun of the British Movement by comparing it with the German Movement and affirmed that several their idols were black boxers. In the biography of their group, Cockney Reject (2005, Jeff Turner & Garry Bushell), it is also described there a massive brawl against the members of the British Movement with the one their first concerts.
