Cobourg (in German: Coburg ) is a town of Germany, in the Land of Bavaria. It is today the Chef-lieu district of Cobourg, to 84 km in the south-west of Weimar.

History

Cobourg is mentioned for the first time approximately 950 years ago. It was of 1586 to 1918 the capital of a Principauté of a branch junior (ernestine connects) house by Saxony, the dukes of Saxony-Cobourg-Gotha, after having been that of the dukes of Saxony-Cobourg-Saalfeld, princely houses German all the two exits of the house of Saxony-Cobourg.
