With the wire of the decades, the exploitation of oil caused a Subsidence so strong that thousands of people live from now on under the Sea level, protected by a Digue.

The group of Bolivar coastal was always the engine of the oil industry of Venezuela, but the majority of its components seem mature today: the production by well is very weak, produced oil contains much water, and PdVSA sorrow to maintain the production. Nevertheless, the decline of production is due partly by the disorganization of PdVSA, which licensié most of its engineers after the grêves of 2003.
