Co Adriaanse

Jacobson (" Co") Adriaanse (Amsterdam, July 21st 1947) is a trainer and former Dutch footballer. He inter alia played Volewijckers and FC Utrecht. As a trainer, it obtained the semi-final of the Coupe of the UEFA with AZ Alkmaar and was champion of the Portugal with FC Oporto. He was then until May 17th, 2007 the trainer of the Ukrainian club of the Metalurg Donetsk.

Career

Player

As an amateur, he played in clubs like HRVC Adriaanse (Amsterdam), OSV and DRC (Amsterdam). As a pro, he played of 1964 until 1970 in Volewijckers and until 1976 with FC Utrecht. For this last club, he played 176 matches.

Trainer

Adriaanse was the trainer from 1979 of Zilvermeeuwen (amateurs), PEC Zwolle, $the Hague (laid off on February 12th, 1992), Willem II Tilburg. May 8th, 2000, it was named trainer of the Ajax of Amsterdam (laid off on November 29th, 2001). Between 1992 and 1997 Adriaanse was director of the training of young people of the Ajax.

After intense criticisms, Adriaanse due to give up at the end of November 2001 the ground in spite of the position of leader of the Ajax in Eredivisie. It then took in hand AZ Alkmaar.

In 2004, after a fifth position and for the first time since obtaining the Cut of the UEFA since the glorious Eighties of AZ, the club of Alkmaar finished 3rd of Eredivise (champion of winter). The same year it reached the semi-final of the Coupe of the UEFA in which its team was eliminated by the Sporting Lisbon. After this happy new year, Adriaanse obtains an employment from the club of Oporto.

The April 22nd 2006, during the 32e day of the Championship of Portugal of football, FC Oporto was crowned champion of Portugal. A small month later, the May 14th 2006 Adriaanse gained the Coupe of Portugal of football. FC Oporto gained the price of better defense dEurope and Adriaanse was proclaimed better trainer of Portugal of season 2005/2006.

August 9th, 2006, the Portuguese club laid off it following a rupture of confidence between the club and technical staff. Adriaanse did not receive moreover all premiums of the former season and criticized the president of Oporto after the tournament of Amsterdam.

The December 6th 2006, it became the new coach of the Ukrainian club of the Metalurg Donetsk. It quita the club on Thursday, May 17, 2007. August 27th, 2007, it signed for one year as a trainer of the club qatari of Al Sadd Doha.
