A Coopérative of services in residence is, with the Quebec, a company of social economy, non-profit-making, made up under the terms of the Law on the Coopérative S which offers service S of domestic maintenance, of preparation of meal or guarding in residence aiming at maintienir in residence of the elderly.
In 2006, 43 co-operatives exist on all the territory, ensuring 2594 employment and generating 40,6 million Dollar S.
Founded in 1989, the Co-operative of services in residence of the Estrie is currently the first company in this field among the 103 existing companies of social economy in Quebec. It serves more 1 500 hearths monthly and manages more than 130 employees. Its annual turnover reaches now more than 1,6 million dollars. With the Ageing of the population and the desinstitutionalisation, the Co-operative faces a great growth.
