Co-operative Satellite Institute for Meteorological Studies
The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) is a component of the Center of aeronautics and engineering of University off Wisconsin-Madison in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The made CIMSS of research in passive teledetection for the Meteorology and the applications of surface:

Development and establishment of techniques of interpretation of the thermal data coming from the meteorological satellite geostationary.
- Development and test of the instruments put on board these satellites.
- Data-processing Development of treatments S of the data and the forecasts which one can extract.
- Optimization of the use of the satellite data for the studies climatological S and of the total Warming.
The CIMSS is an international center of expertise in this field and also collaborates in the training of the pupils of the department of meteorology of the university of Wisconsin-Madison.
