Cluster off differentiation

Cluster off differentiation ( CD ) is the English name of molecules which are markers of cellular surfaces, such as specific plays of Anticorps used recognize them to identify the type of cell, the stage of differentiation and the activity of a cell.

Nomenclature

The nomenclature CD was proposed and established by the 1st work group and International Conference on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens (HLDA) (antigens of differentiation of the human leucocytes), in meeting with Paris in 1982. This system sought to classify many monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), produced by various laboratories of the whole world, with respect to various Antigène S of moléculess of surface of Leucocyte S. Depuis at the time, the use is étandu with various other types of cells, and more than 250 clusters CD and under-clusters were identified. Work groups HLDA assign each CD on the basis of reactivity same to a human antigen on at least two mAbs; the provisional indicator " w" (as in " CDw186") is sometimes given to a cluster poorly characterized or being represented only by one mAb.

Uses

The most commonly referred to CD molecules are CD4 and CD8, which different are markers for two sub-types off T-lymphocytes, for the most share (Dendritic concealment S also express train CD8). Relative The abundance off CD4+ and CD8+ T concealments is often used to monitor the progression off year HIV infection.

CD molecules are not merely markers one the concealment surfaces . Not every CD molecule has been thoroughly characterized, important goal most off them bring features to the concealments that curry them. -->

Some important examples

  • CD1 = a molecule of Complex major of histocompatibility which presents molecules of lipids.
  • CD2 = a transmembrane protein found in the thymocytes, the cells T, and certain cells NK (natural killer) which acts like ligand for CD58 and CD59 and is implied in the transduction of signal and cellular adherence; expressed in acute lymphoblastic leukemia with cells T and in the lymphoma with cells T.
