Club Wisdom

The Club Wisdom (or Hekmé rear RTL حكمة) is a club of sport Libanais including/understanding a section basketball and a section Football.

The club represents the district Maronite of Achrafieh to Beirut. It is close to the Lebanese Forces, and its supporters does not hesitate to carry the colors of the FL during the matches of the team of Basket-ball of the club.

History

The Club Wisdom was founded in 1943. In 1944, the football team returns in the first Lebanese division, but is relegated in the second division following problems with the Lebanese federation of football. In 1948, the club gains division and goes up in D1.

In 1992, Antoine Choueiry is elected president of club, the team of football gains the championship of the 2nd division and goes up in the first Division, the team of basketball is created.

In 1996, Sagesse finishes 2nd Arab Coupe of the clubs champions of basketball.

In 1998, Sagesse is crowned champion of Lebanon de Basketball, the club also gains the Arab Coupe of the clubs champions of basketball disputed with Beirut. The basketball starts to attract a great number of Lebanese.

But it is in 1999 that thanks to the Sagesse team, Lebanon will know glory in the basketball. Indeed, Sagesse gains one second time the Arab Championnat of the clubs of basketball, and gains also the Coupe of Asia of basketball of the clubs champions. It is a first for a club Libanais, and for an Arab club. The Tennis shoe becomes thereafter the sport preferred of the Lebanese one.

In 2000, Sagesse gains second once the cut of Asia.

In 2004, Sagesse gains for the 3rd time the cut of Asia.

In summer 2004, after the resignation of the president Antoine Choueiry, a new board of directors is elected in October, and Joseph Freiha judges it becomes the new president of club. A new management committee is created with in the chair Henry Chalhoub.

The February 19th 2006, a new board of directors was elected at the time of the general meeting of the club. Henry Chalhoub is elected president of the club.

At the conclusion of season 2005/2006, the football team went back to the first Lebanese division. The team also reached the final of the cut of Lebanon this season, lost against Al Ansar.

Equip with basketball Sagesse

The section Basket-ball of the Club Wisdom was created after the war in 1992. the Team became representing it of Lebanon in various international competitions of clubs.

Current team

Until 2006, Sagesse had in its team the best back of Asia, Lebanese the Fady El Khatib, which marked 27 pts/match the season 2005-2006. This one currently evolves/moves in the Ukrainian championship.

Paul Khoury, an interior giant, also international Libanais evolves/moves with the Sagesse club.

The adverse derbies the club of Wisdom in Sporting are always a great moment in Lebanon.
