Clothing for motorcyclist

The Vêtement S for Motard S are classified in two categories, the obligatory ones and advised; both are in relation to the Sécurité of the pilot of the motor bike.

Obligatory equipment

Only the port of the helmet is obligatory for the pilot and the passenger and his absence are liable in France to a Amende of 135 € with withdrawal of three points on the Driving license and a possible immobilization of the vehicle. In the event of accident, the absence of helmet can justify a reduction of the compensation for the physical injuries covered by the insurer. The helmet protects the head from the motorcyclist and must be changed in the event of fall likely to deteriorate its qualities of absorption of the shocks. A simple fall height of a table on a regular ground is, in general, tolerable.

Clothing recommended

If they are not obligatory, they are strongly recommended because they contribute to safety:

the Gant S protect from the cold and various projections (insects, particles, gravels,…). In the event of fall, those make it possible to protect the hands efficiently by avoiding the Abrasion. There exist various types of gloves adapted to the climatic conditions and the type of motor bike (gloves of summer or winter, sport, leisure, tourism, cross-country race…). It is advised to use only gloves in Cuir specific to the control of the motor bike and to exclude the use of textile gloves which are sources of burns in the event of fall. Among materials present on the market, the Gore-Tex constitutes a good protection against the rain but also against the cold by the evaporation of perspiration;

the Shoe S: it is advised to carry suitable shoes protecting the ankles and if possible in Cuir, which can be reinforced with the most exposed sites (boots of motorcyclist or ankle boots). Those age less with the use of the selector speeds. To lead barefeet or in light shoes is to be proscribed.

the wind-breaker: it must protect from the Intempérie S and the possible falls;

It in general comprises reinforcements located at the level of the Coude S and shoulder S (and if possible a dorsal protection). It can be out of leather or textile (there exist special modern materials such as the will cordura), according to the season and the way carried out. For a few years several manufacturers have worked on Veste airbag protecting the back effectively and the cervical ones, certain models are already certified THIS and marketed.

pants: for the long ways or the sporting practice, leather pants are ideal: it protects from the bad weather and abrasion in the event of fall, especially if it comprises reinforcements with the Genou X. Materials Synthétique S can also be used. The Jeans are a compromise between protection and comfort because they do not absorb the shocks of a fall even if they preserve abrasion; the pants in fabric are not adapted because not very abrasion resistant. To avoid abrasions at the time of slips, it is preferable to have of a wind-breaker unit/pants of only one holding (combination), or a solid connection (zippers, not of Velcro) between these two parts

combination of rain: it is essential as of the appearance of the autumn. One can prefer it in two parts for a nonexclusive use: at the time of the cold first or light rains the jacket can be carried only. For a good sealing, a combination in a part is advised. To always keep in mind which the combination of rain must be carried over the wind-breaker and the pants, which them protect from the possible shocks and frictions with the ground.

Taxation

The French federation of the Motorcyclists in Anger (FMC) currently militates so that the obligatory safety equipments are assujetis with VAT to 5,5% (currently 19,6%).
