Closed Lucé

The manor of the Closed Lucé (in the past called castle of Cloux ), located in the top of Amboise, in the valley of the the Loire, in France, was the last residence of Léonard de Vinci, where he lived of 1516 to the May 2nd 1519, with the good care of François I {{er}}. The manor and the Château of Amboise were connected besides by an underground, to make it possible to the sovereign to return visit to the scientist in any discretion.

The castle

The castle shelters memories of the genius of Léonard. In the basement, one can discover a beautiful collection of models produced according to his drawings. One sees there in particular a Tank, a Transporter bridge, the first steps of a Hélicoptère, and also of the quotations like: “ to preserve the principal gift of nature, i.e. the Freedom, I know how to attack and defend in the event of seats by the ambitious tyrants. ” (Leonardo da Vinci).

The park

The park shelters also models life size of its principal inventions. Most attractive are those which Léonard had in fact never have the means of assembling itself. Not only they were carried out, but their effectiveness was proven, thanks to the efforts of pupils of the Arts and Métiers of Paris.

Visit

The family of Amboise had this manor until 1830.

Since the years 1950, the castle, which currently belongs to the Saint-Breaking family, is opened with the public for the visit. It is Jean Saint-Breaking, in love with the inheritance, which made Lucé Field a tourist site of first importance in the Loire Valley. New the Parc Leonardo da Vinci is a new design of visit of a monument. The site is alive and moving. More than ever, the heart of Leonard de Vinci is present in this place of exception.
