Clodomir Ier
Clodomir Ier is king de France and of Orleans of 511 with 524. It was born towards 495 and died the June 25th 524 with Vézeronce.
Genealogy
He is the son of Clovis I {{er}} and Clotilde.He marries Gondioque (v. 495 - v. 532).
He is the father inter alia Théodebald, Gunthar and Clodoald.
Biography
With died of his father, in 511, it divides the kingdom of the Francs with his three brothers: Thierry Ier, Childebert Ier and Clotaire Ier. Whereas Thierry, the elder one, is largely favoured, Clodomir shares half of the kingdom of Clovis with his/her two other brothers. It is the Royaume of Orleans, cut in the old kingdom of Syagrius which falls to him. This kingdom comprises in particular évêchés of Tours, Poitiers and of Orleans.Clodomir marries Gondioque which gives him three wire: Théodebald, Gunthar and Clodoald (the future Cloud saint).
In 523 - 524, at the instigation of Clotilde, Clodomir and her three brothers unite in a forwarding against Burgondes. Once Sigismond and its family prisoners, Clodomir returns to Orleans. But the brother of Sigismond, Godomar III returns triumphing in Burgondie to the head over the troops sent by his ally and relative, the king ostrogoth Théodoric Large the. There, it makes massacre the garrison that the Francs had left. Clodomir then makes assassinate Sigismond and the wire of this last the May 1st, 524, then, it launches out in the one second forwarding against Burgondes. It is killed at the time of the Bataille of Vézeronce the June 25th of the same year.
After the death of Clodomir
Its three sons are collected by his/her mother until its widow, Gondioque, wife Clotaire; but that is not enough for this last obtains the territory of his/her late brother: the Salic law imposes the division of the kingdom between wire of Clodomir.
To avoid that, Clotaire is combined with Childebert to organize the assassination of the young heirs (532). The two uncles then make massacre the children of Clodomir, leaving in life only Clodoald because this last manages to flee. Better known under the name of Cloud saint, it became thereafter Abbé of Nogent having preferred to give up its hair, symbol of the franque royalty, rather than with the life.
Clotaire and Childebert can then freely divide the territory of their brother. Thierry collects to him also part of the heritage and recovers the Auxerrois, the Berry and the Sénonais.
