Cliffs of Moher
The cliffs of Moher (in English Cliffs off Moher , in Gaelic Aillte year Mhothair , “cliffs of the ruins”) are a whole of Falaise S located on the commune of Liscanor at the south-west of the Burren in the Comté of Clare, in Ireland. The cliffs rise until 214 m above the Atlantic Ocean over a length of 8 km.
A tower ( O' Brien tower ) was built in 1835 in the middle of cliffs by Sir Cornelius O' Brien to offer a point of observation for the very many tourists who came already on the site. In clear weather, one can see there in addition to the islands of Aran and the bay of Galway which are with broad, the mountains of the Connemara (Maumturk and Twelves Bens).
