Cliff Williams

Cliff Williams is a bass player of Hard rock born the December 14th 1949 in Romford in the London suburbs.

Biography

Cliff Williams creates his own group called Home . The group separates, it joined the group Bandit thereafter then AC/DC for the recording of Powerage in 1978. Angus Young entrusts: “Took We it because it had a beautiful mouth, it is important if one wants to assemble full girls to our concerts”.

Material

Cliff uses one 1976 Music Man with cords of Addario Flatwounds. For the amplifiers, Cliff uses old women 1970 Ampeg SVT and 8x10 SVT Cab. It uses also a tube Demeter DLL box. Cliff uses a cable instead of a transmitter. In médiators, it uses Fender Extra Heavy. Like his/her companions, Cliff has its clean médiators with signature but does not use them. They are white, Extra Heavy with its gilded signature and AC/DC marked in lower part, and virgin on the other face. In studio, Cliff is the only one to use a DI (Direct Input - It connects directly on the table of mixing via a case of direct). Angus and Malcolm place a microphone in front of their amplifiers. Cliff Williams always plays with low Fender Pick white, which is rare nowadays. On Boogie Man , he plays his base line with the fingers (cf it video No Bull . During the first years, it kept a play as simple as possible, and this was used much for the pieces of the group. By keeping its simple but solid lines, it kept this sound “thunder” which made the force of AC/DC. When it places a precise basic plan, it is always advisedly, and this always gave the grace for which need Malcolm Young for his hard rhythmic parts has. One of the best examples would be on Shoot to Thrill in Donnigton, and the live performance of Girls Got Rhythm on live the Let There Be Rock'n'roll double-CD 1980 in the box Bonfire like Whole lotta turned pink on live the atlantic studio.
