Clervaux

Clervaux ( Klierf in Luxembourg, German Clerf in ) is a locality in the north of the Grand-Duché of Luxembourg and chief town of the commune and canton bearing the same name in the district of Diekirch.

Boxed in the valley of the Clerve ( Klierf ) Clervaux is a picturesque village extremely attended by tourism.

Its major tourist attractions are the Abbey Saint-Maurice and Saint-Maur as his medieval castle dating from 12th superbly restored which shelters the famous photographic collection off The Family Man of Edward Steichen, photographer considered American, native of Luxembourg

Although it as of the years 1880 was connected to the railroad by the Belgian line Luxembourg-Ettelbruck-Troisvierges-border, the locality never knew a great economic advancement, its main resources today being always the gastronomy and tourism.

During two hundred years only industry with Clervaux was a Tannerie of intermediate size, the first installed with the Grand-Duché of Luxembourg, in 1741.
