Clermont-l' Herault (in Occitan Clarmont d' Erau ) is a common French, located in the department of the Herault and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Clermontais.

Geography

History

The town of Clermont-l' Herault is known since Protohistoire: a typical oppidum préromain of Celtic Mediterranean was on the hill of Ramasse. Recent archaeological excavations showed its importance at the time Roman (INRAP, years 2000). There then existed a principal agglomeration of 5-6 hectares as well as a peripheral inhabited area of 12 hectares. The vestiges of a hydropathic establishment were put at the day.

The city was called in the past Clermont-Lodève.
