Clement Durand
Clément Durand is a French trade unionist.
Pupil of the Public assistance, Clément Joseph is registered in 1919 at the elementary school of Fish pond-in-Charnie. It takes the name of Durand at the 7 years age. Excel pupil, it passes to the higher elementary school of Ernée, then at the Teacher training school of Laval. It becomes Instituteur with Saint-Fraimbault-of-Prayers.
Trade unionist, it is elected in December 1945 member of the national office of the National union of the teachers, then, in January 1947 joined the permanent secretariat. During two decades, it ensures the responsibility for the laic sector it. It is for this reason that it is charged, with the lawyer Jean Cornec of the constitution of the committees of laic vigilance which will become the Fédération of the parental advices of pupils (FCPE). It is also at the origin of the laic National committee of action, of which there remains secretary until in 1969, year when he ceases exerting his trade-union responsibilities.
He becomes then general secretary of the Jeunesse to the outdoor of 1969 with 1980.
Respected militant, emblematic figure of the laic combat for the militants of the SNI on which its moral influence will be exerted until its death, Clément Durand is, after and with Henri Aigueperse, one of the great figures of the National union of the teachers of post-war period.
He is the father of Yves Durand, politician French.
