Cleebourg

Cleebourg (German: Kleeburg ) is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.

The village belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North.

Geography

History

Bremmelbach, " country of the brushes ". According to an old tradition, the inhabitants made brushes there and thus they were called " Basebinder " (noueurs of brushes), as people of the " Baseland " (country of the brushes) or " Basenescht " (nest with brushes).

The name of Bremmelbach appears for the first time at the 14th century of time when the village belonged to the Bailliage of Cleebourg. It was then given in stronghold to Palatine - Two Bridges.

The commune operates an fusion-association with the village of Bremmelbach (Commune partner) on January 1st, 1973.
