A cleat is a part in Bois, generally long and relatively fine.
Its section is square or rectangular.
One can make use of it:
- like support, to pose a Board over (in a piece of furniture for example)
- to maintain two boards together (in nailing or Screw sant each board to the cleat)
The cleat is also used for the covers in Zinc of the roofs, if typical of the Parisian buildings. It is used to carry out the assembly between two zinc sheets: it is parallel to fixed the slope on the old Volige. The two zinc sheets are raised against the cleat. The cleat and the statements are covered with a zinc splice plate ensuring the sealing of the unit.
