Clear Case
See also: Case
The clear case is one of the principal elements of the battery.
Constitution
It is made up of a cylindrical barrel, of two skins (of striking and resonance), of a stamp and a acastillage (left metal fixed or mobile). Its diameter varies between 10 and 14 inches (other diameters are available at Ayote, a mark which manufactures barrels to measure). Its depth, it, oscillates between 3 and 8 inches. The skins can be of animal or synthetic origin; the barrel can be out of aluminum, steel, various alloys containing copper or wood.
The stamp, left small iron curtain, can be engaged at will. When it is not it, the sound of the clear case points out clearly the military drum, rather simple, deaf; when it is it, it is supported against the lower skin and resounds with it, creating its sourness and powerful generally used.
Composition and completion
The materials of manufacture and the level of completion of the clear cases vary according to the manufacturer and the range of price. They share the characteristics of the other elements of percussion constitutive of a traditional battery, namely the Grosse case and the Tom S.

Use
The clear case is an evolution of the military drum, and thus remains confined a long time in this register. It makes its entry in the music known as erudite thanks to type-setters like Gustav Mahler and in several operas, always in optics to point out a military brass band. The most known features are: Bolero and Alborada LED gracioso of Ravel, Shéhérazade and the Spanish Capriccio of Rimski-Korsaov, the Seventh Symphony of Chostakovitch,…
The clear case is used today in the majority of the musical styles using the battery; with the Large case and the charleston, it belongs to the starting trio of the majority of the rates/rhythms Rock.
The clear cases of small sizes (piccolo) are often used in musical currents funky or jungle.
The clear case of samba (also called caixa or caixa of will guerra ) generally presents a drier stamp, made up of a simple metal wire running on the skin of striking. She is played carried to the shoulder or the size with a strap, but some play it also directly related to the shoulder and supported of an arm.
