Clair Alan Brown is a American Botaniste , born the August 16th 1903 with Port Allegany and died in 1982.

He is the son of Charles Melvin and Jennie H. born Burrows. He obtains his Bachelor off Sciences with mention in the New York State College off Forestry in 1925, then his Master off Arts at the university of the Michigan in 1926 and his Doctorat in 1934. It Marie with Maude Nichols the September 4th 1926 (this one dies in 1962).

It enters to the university of State of Baton-Rouge in 1926 and teaches there the Botanique starting from 1944. He exerts functions of adviser near industrialists of the Pétrole, the Papier and industries of the die wood.

Member many learned societies, it is named honorary president of the 78e extraordinary session of the botanical Société of France. Brown is in particular the author of:
