Clean Savoy

The Savoy Propre or Savoy-Clean was a historical Province Duché of Savoy. It bears sometimes the name of Savoy Ducale because of the presence of Chambéry on these grounds, capital of the duchy in 1295.

Geography

The province of Savoy Propre corresponds roughly to current the Arrondissement of Chambéry. Thus one finds the Beaufortain with Beaufort-on-Doron, the Bauges with Châtelard, the Combe of Savoy with Montmélian, the valley of Le Bourget with Chambéry and Aix, the Savoyard Avant-pays and the Albanian with Rumilly (divided today with Haute-Savoie).

Heraldic

The blazon of Savoy Propre corresponds sometimes to that of Savoy (Of mouths, with the money cross). However, there exists also a version in which this last is increased by a sand lion cub in heart, like the image illustrates it opposite.

History of the province

Of XIIIe in XIVe century, the Baillif of Savoy Own account among the thirteen Bailliage S important of Savoy with like chief town Montmélian (and not Chambéry). Indeed, this borough has a natural fortress very quickly transformed into citadel and luipermettant to control Combe of Savoy (led natural of the Tarentaise and the Maurienne, and with far the Steps giving access to the Dauphiné, as well as a bridge to the Isere. This baillif gathers seventeen châtellenies.
