Clavinet
The Clavinet is a electric Piano of the German firm Hohner. Ernst Zacharias, the creator of Clavinet, already had with its credit several electromechanical keyboards like the Cembalet (in the Années 1950) and the Pianet. With Clavinet, it wished to obtain a sound closer to the Clavecin and intended its instrument for the classical music. The style of music for which it was used the most is however the Funk.
Technique
Any models of Clavinet comprise 60 keys what corresponds to 5 octaves (of Fa0 with Mi5). The operation of Clavinet is very close to that of the Clavicorde, Each key presses on a cord and separates it into two, part of the cord is covered with a wool yarn which chokes the cord, the other part will vibrate. By slackening the key, the cord is not separated any more, the wool son will choke all the cord which does not vibrate any more. According to the principle of the electric Guitar, the sound is collected by micro , then amplified.
