Claudine Monteil
Claudine Monteil (1949 -) is a feminist and French woman of letters. She was inspired in her fight for the women's rights for the example of her mother, the chemist Josiane Serre, old professor in the Sorbonne and director of the National university of Young girls (ex-Sevres). This one helped of the young women to reach positions of responsibility hitherto reserved to the men. The father of Claudine Monteil, the mathematician Jean-Pierre Tightens, also supported this cause.
Active in the student movements of the years 1968-1970 near the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre whom it has well-known, it engages in 1970, at the 20 years age, in the Liberation movement of the women. It binds friendship with the writer Simone de Beauvoir, author of the " Second Sex " , until its disappearance in 1986. This one presents it to his/her sister the artist-painter Helene de Beauvoir, auteure of 3000 tables and engravings, to which it will be also very close.
