Claude Mandil

Born in Lyon in 1942, graduate of the Polytechnic school (X1961 Promotion, Mining engineer), Claude Mandil is currently (since February 2003) executive director of the International agency of energy (IEA). September 1st, 2007, it will be replaced by Mr. Nobuo Tanaka.

He works initially as engineer near the areas Brittany and of Lorraine, then he is operations manager with DATAR and ANVAR. In 1981, he becomes Technical Adviser with the cabinet of the Prime Minister. In 1984, he becomes chairman of the Institute of Industrial development (IDI), a Public bank of investment. In 1988 it is named Managing director of the Bureau of geological and mining research (BRGM). From 1990, he becomes Managing director of Energy and the Raw materials to the Ministère of Industry, before being appointed Delegated general director of Gaz de France in October 1998, then President of the French Petroleum Institute in April 2000.
