Claude Dubois

Claude Dubois (April 24th 1947 -) is a Chanteur Québécois. He is regarded as one of the most beautiful voices of the pop music scene of Quebec. In France, it is known primarily as being the interpreter of the song the Blues of the Businessman , extracted the musical production Starmania .

Biography

August 1st Dubois records a first album at the 12 years age, with the western group the Mountain dwellers. He is hardly seventeen years old that he becomes the appointed chansonnier of the Patriot, a famous box with songs of Montreal. Since 1966, it records some titles which are various successes ( Belle Family , I have To still remember , My P' tite Vie ). It is allowed to forsake its career with the profit of an other passion: taste of the voyages. Published under Barclay label, Dubois remains in France (1970-1971) and records, under the direction of the arranger François Rauber, some titles ( Labrador , Trop Near, Trop Far ) which bring back it under fires of the slope. Influenced by the musical currents which come, mainly, of California, its music changes as of beginning of the year 70 and takes psychedelic colors ( Cold Cerveau , the Fourth Dimension ). Of simple chansonnier with turtleneck, he becomes a singer with esthetics rock'n'roll, in the wake of Robert Charlebois and Diane Dufresne, which explodes at the same time. In 1978, solicited by Luc Plamondon, he plays the part of January Zero in the musical production Starmania and is his greater French success as interprets by singing the Blues of the Businessman . Dubois began his career of singer before Starmania and continues afterwards it. They are the French who remained hung to this part of the tandem Shepherd-Plamondon. With for result which the whole of its repertory remains ignored in Europe, besides this song extracted from Starmania , which seems to cross time, which is worth to him to go to sing it at Michel Drucker, as in 1999, at the time of spring from Quebec in Paris. The catalog of Dubois however contains his batch of songs outstanding, impossible to circumvent: Labrador , Woman of Dream , Inaccurate , I have to still remember , Like a million people, My P' tite life (Sandwiches 'with Moutarde) , Travels from There , Artiste , Fables of spaces , Plein with tenderness , Femme of company , You cannot , Pas question of adventure , If God exists , Small the Cailloux.

In XXIe century, it continues to give spectacles a little everywhere to Quebec. It has multiplied the passages to the Casino of Montreal for the ten last years, in addition to occurring in front of large crowd, outside, in the festivals. Its major asset, it is its voice, with which it continues to touch the heart of several generations.

In 2007, on the initiative of Paul-Dupont Hébert, producer at Zone 3, in Montreal, Dubois invites at his place, with Montfort, in Laurentides, some of the greatest voices of the francophonie to re-record its more beautiful songs in duet. Patrick Bruel is number, Céline Dion and Francis Cabrel too. Gilles Vigneault and Richard Desjardins is there also, for a resumption of the part Labrador . The album, Duets Dubois , is launched on May 7th, 2007.
