Claude Champaud
Claude Champaud is a Universitaire French, former president of the Université of Rennes I, former First Vice-president of the Conference of the Presidents of university and Professor of Droit.
It was, with Professors Michel Despax, then Jean Paillusseau, one of holding of the “Doctrine of the company” (described sometimes “as School of Rennes”) in Company law in France, in the years 1960-1970.
It was a question of seeing in the legal concept of company clothing legal of an economic reality and social, the company, that the company had for single function to organize. (See the thesis of Jean Paillusseau: S.A., technique of organization of the company , Sirey 1967). It resulted from this a broad meaning from the social interest like “interest of the company”. These theses know today an renewed interest with the rise of the theories known as of “stakeholderism” in the Anglo-Saxon countries, like with the development of the Social responsibility of the companies.
In the years 1990, the Anglo-Saxon theories analyzing the large company like a “node of contracts” (Coase, Jensen & Meckling, Easterbrook & Fischel) took root in France, in particular with the favor of the movement of Corporate governance. It resulted from this a model from company directed in a univocal way towards the interest and the profit of the shareholders: this movement went directly against the doctrines of the company, whose influence and prestige then clearly decreased.
He in addition was member of the Council of State, but also Vice-Président of the General advice of Ille and Vilaine and the District council of Brittany.
Today President of the REPI (Network Undertaken Intellectual properties), association gathering of the Law professors, Economy, Lawyers, the Councils in pi, the Certified public accountants and the Chiefs of enrteprises, whose mission triples it is: to raise the level of financial or managerial knowledge of the specialists in pi; to develop a culture “intellectual properties” among the leaders, the engineers and the executives of companies (SME in particular) of the areas of the west of France; to contribute to the development of research and multi-field formations intellectual properties economic intelligence within the economic scenes, legal sciences and sciences and technology of the engineer.
