Claude Brossette

Claude Julien Brossette, lord of Varennes Rapetour (7 or November 8th 1671, Theizé, Lyons - 16 or 13 or June 11th 1743)

He was lawyer at the Parliament of Paris then prosecuting attorney to the courses of Lyon; administrator of the Hospital (1722-1724), vice-chancellor of the Hospital of Charity in 1727; then alderman of the town of Lyon (1730-1731). It founded in 1700 the Academy of Science the humanities and arts of Lyon.

He marries, in 1706, 35 years old, Marguerite Chavagnieu (or Chavigni?). They will have 2 wire and 2 girls but his wife will die in 1716: it was a great pain for Brossette. They placed not in Rapetour but primarily in the house of the village called Beauvallon.

There are of him works of right, estimated editions of Nicolas Boileau (1716-1717) and of Mathurin Régnier (1729). It had maintained with Boileau 1699 with 1710 a followed correspondence, which was published by François Louis Cizeron Rival, 1770.
