Claude Alexandre de Bonneval

Claude Alexandre, Count de Bonneval (July 14th 1675 - March 23rd 1747, Constantinople), French military officer who will put at the service Ottoman Empire, converting with the Islam and becoming known under the name Humbaraci Ahmed Pasha . It was born from a noble family of the the Limousin resulting from Milites castri of the Vicomté of Ségur; it initially served with distinction in the French Marine under Tourville, and in the Army under Nicolas de Catinat and Louis-Joseph de Vendôme. Disgraced by Michel Chamillart to have offended Madam de Maintenon, it passed to the service of the Austria, and fought against its fatherland in Provence, in Dauphiné, with Turin, Malplaquet. Being still made disgrace to have insulted Prince Eugene, it took refuge in Turkey, took the Turban (1730), was made pasha and fought the Autrichien S.
Its Mémoires is not authentic.
Its family always exists and is currently proprétaire castle of COUSSAC-BONNEVAL (87.)
