Claude-Emmanuel de Pastoret

Claude-Emmanuel Joseph Pierre, marquis of Pastoret , born with Marseilles the December 24th 1755 and died in Paris the September 28th 1840, is a lawyer, man of letters and politician French. He was appointed of Paris to the legislative Parliament and briefly Minister of Interior Department in 1791.

He proposes that the building which has just been completed and was to be devoted as church with holy Genevieve becomes a necropolis dedicated to the exceptional personalities which will contribute to the size of France that the temple of the religion becomes the temple of the fatherland, that fall it from a great man becomes the furnace bridge of freedom. The building is named “the French Pantheon” and is modified in this direction. At the pediment, the inscription suggested by Pastoret is placed: “With the great men, the grateful fatherland. ”

In 1795, he manages to make cancel the judgment with death in absentia weighing on his friend the count de Vaublanc, future Minister of Interior Department in 1816, because of his participation in the royalist Insurrection of the 13 vendémiaire year IV. But it itself is fructidorisé and must flee in exile, always accompanied by Vaublanc.

Appointed VAr after the Revolution, he is senator in 1809 and minister of state in 1826.

He is count of the Empire in 1809, marquis de Pastoret in 1817, chancellor of France (1829-1830), par of France, chair Room of the Pars (December 17th, 1829 - August 2nd, 1830).

He is elected member of the Académie of the inscriptions and the humanities in 1784, of the French Academy in 1820 and of the Academy of Science morals and political in 1832. Professor with the Collège de France and the Sorbonne, he is the author of a Histoire of the Legislation in 11 volumes.

Married on July 14th, 1789 with Adelaide Piscatory de Vaufreland, born in 1765, Marseilles, died on September 26th, 1843, castle of Fleury-Meudon (at the 78 years age), from where:

    • Marie, born on June 23rd, 1817, deceased on July 4th, 1890 with the castle of Moreuil. Married with Red Herve of , marquis of the Plessis-Suspension brace (6th), born on January 18th, 1809 with the Castle from Moreuil, deceased on June 26th, 1888 with the Castle of Moreuil.
  • Maurice, Viscount of Pastoret (1798 - 1817).
