Classify Triumphing It

Triumphing It is the first of the second underwater type of nuclear launchers of machines of new generation of the French National marine, the SNLE-NG (" Génération" news;). It depends on the strategic oceanic Force.

Presentation

This type of submarines is 10 meters longer, two meters broader and four thousand tons more massive than those of the standard '' Frightening the ''. This series is limited to four specimens instead of the six envisaged in the beginning

Technology

The design of the Triumphing called upon the last innovations in various matters. One finds on board suspensions of heavy trucks which never were born in the civilian because the production costs were too important. Larger, faster, much quieter than its predecessors, Triumphing It is also equipped with a hearing 10 times finer.

Triumphing It is the first submarine equipped with a pump ducted propeller, a system exploiting the backward flow of the water which avoids the Cavitation thus, inspired of the engines of plane. The hull has an anechoic coating absorbing the waves Sonar.

  • S616 - Triumphing It , put over hold the 6/9/1989, launching the 3/26/1994, service entrance the 3/21/1997

  • S617 - Bold the , put on hold the 12/18/1993, launching the 1/21/1998; service entrance the 12/23/1999
  • S618 - Vigilant the , put on hold in 1997, launched the 9/19/2003, service entrance the 11/26/2004
  • S619 - Terrible the (construction will be completed in 2008, the delivery is planned for 2009 and the submarine will enter in service in 2010)

Characteristics of the Terrible

  • Driving of 41500 horses (25 nodes 46 km/h) manufactured by Thermodyn, subsidiary of General Electric.
  • Nuclear reactor of 150 megawatts builds by Technicatome, subsidiary of Areva.
  • Missiles: 16 nuclear missiles M-51, manufactured by EADS.
  • Zone of life of 800 m ² for 110 men.
  • Steel 100 HLES with very high yield stress manufactured by Arcelor (6000 tons)
  • Cost: 2,5 billion Euro S and 4,5 billion armed euros.
