Clarafond

Clarafond is a common Frenchwoman of the Haute-Savoie. Its inhabitants name the Clarafonais .

Turned towards the valley of the Rhone, the village is located at the beginning of a plate dominating the Défilé Lock with north, the town of Bellegarde-on-Valserine in the North-West and the Barrage of Génissiat over the the Rhone in the west.

Á is, the Montagne of Vuache dorsal chain a 13 km length on 1,5 km broad of altitude 700 to 1101 m (Vuache Mount), delimiting the extreme south-west of the Genevese basin.

The name comes from Latin “will clara”, “ clear, limpid ”, and of old French “make” (Xe century) (Latin let us fons, subsidence), “ source, fountain, spring water ”.

Tourism

The commune is located 36 km at the North-East of Annecy, 11 km after Frangy, and at 10 km front Bellegarde-on-Valserine. It is served by:

the RN 508 Annecy section - Bellegarde-on-Valserine, then RD 908a (crossroads before A40 exit “ Éloise ”.
a40 highway, left “ Eloise ” (3 km).
TGV or FOR THE THIRD TIME in the stations of Bellegarde-on-Valserine (10 km), Seyssel (14 km), Culoz (27 km).
International airport of Geneva-Cointrin (35 km) or regional airport of Annecy (36 km).

Clarafond-Arcine belongs to the Communes registered with the Fête of the Cities and Flowered Villages .

History

the commune of Arcine was attached to Clarafond in June 1973.
