Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is a group of indie rock' roll based with Brooklyn, including/understanding Alec Ounsworth, Lee Sargent, Robbie Guertin, Tyler Sargent, and Sean Greenhalgh. Their first album, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah , own-produced and car-was diffused 2005, receiving the attention of many podcasts and quickly received a favorable mention of Pitchfork Media, crowning it directly “Better discovery of the moment”.
The album, before passing under a more powerful label, was with the dires CYHSY, initially only intended to obtain concerts, a diffusion of mass being at the time impossible, only one person taking care of all the process of pressing and diffusion.
For the influences one will be able to quote Tom Waits or the Talking Heads, but the difference being located in the voice nasillarde and hanging of the singer Alec Ounsworth.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah belongs to these groups which it explosion of the Bulle Internet benefitted, enabling them to diffuse their music initially in a fast, inexpensive way and by touching a maximum of world.
A massive request for the album followed which had to be re-pressed in urgency, the initial rate/rhythm of production being too much slow. The group which started to occur while playing regularly Pianos with New York, accepted proposals for a distribution more and more (CYHSY had then sold approximately 45000 copies of their album éponyme).
David Bowie as David Byrne was recently seen at the time of concerts of the group, thus attracting the glance of the press. More recently, they accepted a price of Rolling Stone as “Hot New Band” for 2005. October 3rd, 2005 They signed at Wichita Records in the USA.
All the members of the group live Brooklyn, except for Ounsworth which saw him with Philadelphia. The group which did not have yet a name for the very first concert, then was left inspired by an inscription painted on a wall of Broklyn which said " clap your hands and say yeah".
The singer Alec Ounsworth has a parallel project (Flashy Python and the Body Snatchers).
