Clamp
CLAMP is a female team of Mangaka. Their Manga S is in general Shōjo manga, but they were more recently tested with the Seinen and the Shōnen. Published amongst other things in Young Magazine in Japan.
The team
The team is currently made up of four members:- Ageha Ōkawa (in the past, Nanase Okawa) (, in the past, May 2nd 1967). Leader of the group, it deals with the scenarios, defines the large features of the characters and the number of pages necessary to develop the intrigue.
- Mokona (in the past, Mokona Apapa) (もこな, in the past, June 16th 1968). Principal Dessinatrice.
- Tsubaki Nekoi (in the past, Mick Nekoi) (, in the past, January 21st 1969). Dessinatrice specialized in the SD (Super Deformed: famous small caricatures of the characters), and author of the mini-newspapers present at the end of some Manga ( RG Veda , Clamp School Detectives …). It takes sometimes the feather to make its own series ( Wish ).
- Satsuki Igarashi (, in the past, February 8th 1969) deals of the screens and the design of the books connected. It is also leader-writer in stores Newtype of Kadokawa.
History
At the end of the Years 1980, ten girlfriends, registered with the same course of drawing, decide to launch their own studio. Connecting initially the “Dōjinshi” and other short stories, they end up creating their own stories in 1989 with Derayd - Moon off boundary balances , a fantastic manga inspired of a work of televisual science fiction drawn by Akimaya Tamayo, assisted Mokona, Nekoi Tsubaki, Nanao Sei, Igarashi Satsuki and Sei Leeza. With the hinge of the Years 1990, Mokona works out the concept of the future work worship Tōkyō Babylon and is affirmed like the principal dessinatrice of the group. So certain members affirm themselves, it is differently for certain other assistants and the group melts like snows with the sun. From 7 members lasting RG Veda, the group passes to 4, and it is studio CLAMP such as one knows it today.
If Mokona occupies a place privileged in the group, Nekoi Tsubaki also has a big role. It was before director artistic and responsible for the decorations, before having opportunity of entirely drawing the most recent works of the studio.
Recurring points in works
This studio carried out some of the most popular works of the Manga S of the years 1990 and gives in all the kinds, that it is Manga for children, young girls, teenagers and even adults. Although the kinds diversify, of the simple lovesong to the Korean and Chinese fantasy while passing by social criticism, their sets of themes regularly remain centered on the development of the characters.-
Their heroes are often orphan of one their parents (Sakura does not have more mother; Kamui in X, is orphan of father and has just lost his mother…).
- Each person saw her life with her way and the concepts of good and evil are too simplistic to judge them (at least the good and the evil do not follow the current tradition manichéenne at all). It acts only for its interest and tests exaucer its dreams.
- the characters generally have personalities with multiple facets, which come out from various manners.
- Nobody can really include/understand the pain of others.
- Another recurrent theme is that of the Destin: is our future written in advance?
All that with a vast sample of characters, among whom also appear of the homosexual characters (Toya-Yukito) and others, androgynes.
To summarize, the intrigues are increasingly more complex than it does not appear to with it and no action of each character is fortuitous.
Moreover CLAMP adore to cross their Manga S between them (Crossover in English). For example, the creator of the angels of Angelic Layer is mentioned in Chobits as a creator of the ordis with human form. Another example, the heroes of Manga S like Card Captor Sakura, Angelic To bush-hammer or Chobits are often found with the bar Dukalyon to discuss and advance intrigues and relations between characters. The most obvious example is undoubtedly that of XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa - CHRoNiCLE Tank -, in which the witch of the first frequently renders services to the characters of the second and where one finds the majority of the characters of their mangas.
