Claire Bertrand
Claire Bertrand-Eisenschitz, or Claire Bertrand (his name of young girl and its name of artist) (1890 - 1969) is a painter expressionnist and French draftsman of landscapes and portraits, woman of the painter Willy Eisenschitz.
Biography
Born in 1890 with Sevres (Hauts-de-Seine), Claire Bertrand is the girl of the Géologue Marcel Bertrand, and of Mathilde Mascart.
Claire Bertrand follows to Paris the courses of the Académie Julian then to the Large thatched cottage. She has like fellow student the painter Willy Eisenschitz; they marry in 1913.
Stopped in 1914 like Austrian subject, her husband is held in a camp of internment. Claire Bertrand shares her captivity. His/her Evelyne daughter and her David son are born in the camp In 1917, with her children, it joined with Lucerne Willy Eisenschitz which had to leave for Switzerland for health reasons.
After the war, Claire Bertrand exposes in 1921 and 1922 to the living rooms of the National company of the Art schools.
Willy Eisenschitz discovers the light of the Midi at the time of a voyage in 1921-1922 in Provence, on the Riviera and on the Italian Riviera.
Claire Bertrand settles in 1927 with him and their children in the property of the Minimes to the Valette-of-VAr. They expose often together in the galleries and exposures of the South. Claire Bertrand exposes also on several occasions to the living room of Tileries.
In 1943, her husband is worried by the police force for its Jewish origin. They find refuge with Dieulefit, in Drome. Their David son is stopped by the Nazis in 1944.
They reinstate Tiny the in 1945. In 1949 the exposure " takes place; a family of painters " with the Allard gallery, with works of Willy Eisenschitz, its wife Claire Bertrand, and their daughter Evelyn Marc.
Claire Bertrand-Eisenschitz is elected member of the Academy of the VAr in 1961. She drew and painted primarily landscapes and portraits, in a style expressionist.
She dies in 1969.
Willy Eisenschitz, her husband, dies in Paris the July 8th 1974.
