Civita

Civita is a common Italian of the Province of Cosenza in the area Calabria in Italy.

History

The commune shelters a strong community Arbëresh, Albanian installed here at the 15th century, fleeing the Othoman advance . These Albanians kept a strong identity, always speaking their language, the Arbërisht. In their dialect, Albanian tinted of Italian, the village names Çifti .

Geography

Civita is on the slopes of the solid mass of Pollino beside Raganello which dug one of the longest boxed throats of Europe. Certain sportsmen the course like his Grimavolo affluent.
