Ciudad del Este

Ciudad del Este is the capital of the department of Alto Parana with the Paraguay. Founded in 1957, it was called originally Puerto Flor de Lis , then until in 1989 Puerto President Stroessner (according to the Paraguayan president Alfredo Stroessner). Its population was of: 239500 inhabitants, in 2003.

Located on banks of the River Paraná, the city accommodates many visitors Brésil iens in the search of gone good products.

The Paraná mark the border enters the Brésil and the Paraguay. The communication enters the two sides of the borders is done by a bridge, the " bridge of the Friendship ". Not far, upstream of the city, is located the Barrage of Itaipu.
