City-county

The city-counties (县级市; Pinyin : xiànjíshì ) is a administrative division in Popular republic of China. They are located at the level immediately lower than the prefecture or the city-prefecture. The city-counties generally correspond to an urban center surrounded by rural areas. An equivalent in France is a Communauté of agglomeration.
