City-Marie (old name of Montreal)
City-Marie is the first name French given to Montreal, city of the Quebec. It was developed on the site of the village iroquoienne of Hochelaga, located on the island of Montreal on the Fleuve the St. Lawrence.
This name to him is given on May 17th, 1642 by Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve, on the point where was the place before occupied Royale by Samuel de Champlain, in the honor of the Virgin Mary.
