Citizens for the European development of Bulgaria

The Gerb is a founded Political party the December 3rd 2006 by Boïko Borisov, mayor of Sofia. It is a political party of center-right, whose acronym means Citoyens for the European development of Bulgaria (bg ГражданизаевропейскоразвитиенаБългария (from where GERB - ГЕРБ into Bulgarian - which also means “armorial bearings” in Bulgare). He entrusts the presidency of this new formation to Tsvetan Tsvetanov, former assistant of the mayor of Sofia, but in residence actually the true leader.

This party obtains 5 appointed European the May 20th 2007 at the time of the first elections of Bulgaria to the the European Parliament, while becoming the first Bulgarian party.
