Cirta
Cirta is a city of the ancient Algérie. It was numide, Roman and Byzantine to leave room to the current city of Constantine. As called Cirthe, it is at the time of Massinissa and Jugurtha as it was the capital of the kingdom of Numidie.
History

Under the Byzantine Cirta which remains the capital of the Numidie, shelters the residence of the governor of the province, the dux. The site particularly well defended on three dimensioned by the throats of the Rhumel, was continuously inhabited since Antiquity. It was the place of a council into 412.
The town of Constantine will be built on this same site what explains the little of vestiges left by this city compared to other Algerian sites.
