The Circuit of the Sarthe is a cycle race by stages created in 1953.

Of 1953 with 1963, this race was a national test amateur.
De 1964 with 1974, it will become an international test amateur.
Depuis 1975, it is a test " Open" opened with the amateurs and the professionals.
