Circuit of Suzuka

The circuit of Suzuka is one of the most popular circuits of the Formule 1. Located at 50 km of Nagoya and 150 km of Osaka, it was conceived by the Dutch designer John Hugenholtz. Since 1987, it accommodated the Grand Prix of Japan de Formule 1.

The Circuit of Suzuka accommodated for the last time a test of F1 in 2006. From 2007, it will be replaced by the Circuit of the Mount Fuji, stronghold of Toyota.

Built in 1962, it was first of all used like test track by the manufacturer Japan board Honda. It integrates for the first time the calendar of Formula 1 in 1987. Very technical circuit, it one of is appreciated by the pilots with the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). It was often the last test of the championship, thus designating the champion of Formula 1. The climatic conditions at this period of the year can hold some surprises. However, the lack of safety and its growing old installations do not enable him any more to appear in the queen category of the automobile sport. Formula 1 will thus go to the circuit of the Fuji Mount, property of Toyota and large rival, as from 2007. The single circuit in the form of eight could still hope for a place as a Grand Prix of the Pacific as that was the case in MotoGP but the Japanese constructor pains to renovate his layout.
