Circle-vision 360°
Circle-Vision 360° is the name of a technique of cinema developed by Walt Disney Imagineering for certain attractions of the parks Disney.
For the imagery, the technique consists of nine cameras placed together and laid out on a support which makes it possible to move the whole in the places of turning. An evolution of the system saw the introduction of mirrors to 45° into the device in order to have new star the cameras around a vertical axis, the new mirrors returning the horizontal images. This system makes it possible to have less shift between the fields of view of each camera. The first uses of the device were on the roof of cars or trucks, but for the film O Canada! (1982) or Visionarium (1992), of the helicopters suspends the cameras with the top of the landscapes. In order to reduce the distortions due to the vibrations, the images are reprocessed by ordinateur.
The principle was explained in attraction Visionarium and is at the origin of the name of the character Nine-Eye of attraction.
For projection, this technology uses nine arranged screens rings some and separated by an interstice designed to place the projectors. The first use goes back to 1955 for America the Beautiful with Disneyland within the Circarama Theater , famous Circle-Vision Theater in 1967.
