Cineffable

Cineffable is a French association whose object is to promote the Cinéma lesbian, in particular through the ''' International festival of the film lesbian and feminist of Paris : '' When the lesbians are made cinema '''''.

Cineffable

Association is born in 1989 from the reserved insufficient place with female homosexuality in the International film festival from women from Creteil. The goal of Cineffable is to organize a film festival realized by the lesbians for the lesbians.

When the lesbians are made cinema

Created in 1989, the festival is held in 1992 and 1993 with the cultural center of the Key in Paris, then in the Arts center André Malraux (the Kremlin-Bicêtre) until in 2000, date on which it takes place with the theater Trianon. Since 1996, the festival counts around 7000 entries.

This Cinema festival, reserved to an exclusively female public, gives place to debates and meetings between participating and is a high-place of discussions on the Lesbianisme and the Féminisme. Cineffable association is self-managed and the festival is financed even if since 2003, association receives a subsidy of the Town of Paris which is currently of 10.000 euros (15% of the budget of the festival) to the title of the Observatory of the parity women-hommes . If this subsidy disappeared, the festival would continue to exist nevertheless! A Best-Of Mixte was held each year between 1997 and 2006 but was abandoned because of weak the two last year old frequentation (for more provided explanations, to see on the site). In replacement and as of 2007, of mixed and free projections will take place on November 24th in Paris (infos on the site…).
