Cinca

The Cinca is a River north of the Spain. It takes its source in the the Pyrenees on the sides of the Mont Lost in the National park of Ordesa and of Mount-Lost and throws itself in the Sègre, with Fraga, in the Province of Huesca very close to the Confluent with the Èbre.

This river with the generous flow allowed the establishment of hydro-electric stoppings. It receives water of the rivers Alcandre and Ésera. It sprinkles the agricultural rich person area of Monzón, Fraga and their neighborhoods.

Description

The Cinca river is one of largest among the affluents of Ebre. Its basin recovers 9.699 km ² and its flow is of 3.903 hm ³. The river finds its source in the Pyrenees in the circus of Pineta It begins its race in torrent and cascades and crosses the solid mass of the Tres Sorores whose summits are Marboré , Cilindro and Monte Perdido (Lost Mount). On this course, it receives water of many torrents and brooks, like the Larri . Low, it recovers water of the river Cinqueta .

Cinca thus crosses the valleys of Pineta and Bielsa . It receives on this occasion water of the Ara river and its affluent, Arazas. Water furrows by a deep canyon, parallel with the assembly line. At this place, thick wood, the meadows and the cascades draw the National park of Ordesa. The higher stoppings of Mediano , then of El Grado, symbolize the union of the Macaw and Cinca. Thereafter, Cinca receives water of Ésera, known the most important affluent. This last sees its flow controlled by the stopping of Joaquín Costa, allowing the irrigation of the grounds via the Channel of Aragon and Catalonia.

Downstream, Cinca is linked with the Vero , then the Sosa at the time of its passage to Monzón. After having joined its last affluent, the Alcandre , the river is thrown in Sègre with Mequinenza .

History

The old presence of the man was not shown around the source of the river. On the other hand, of old testimonys make state of an occupation on average mountain and on the median part of the river. The migrating people of the age of iron used the interior valley of Cinca. Thus, the ilergetes ended up populating this zone.

The river would have been baptized by Jules César, as he reports it in his writings on the Civil war. But one finds a denomination quite different for the Arab period, when it receives the name of Az Zaytum meaning Oliveraies or Olives.

Ecology

The banks of the river include/understand a zone of strong ecological richness, the Sotos de Monzón.

On the level of the flora, in particular in the old beds of the river, one counts willows, poplars (white and black) and ashes. In the underwood, particularly dense, lianas and brambles push. The snap rings and the laîches occupy the wetlands.

As for fauna, 166 species of birds were listed there, the majority sedentaries.
