Cicco Simonetta

Cicco Simonetta , born in 1410 with Caccuri in Calabria and dead the October 30th 1480 with Pavia in Lombardy, is a Political personality Italy nne which occupied the front of the scene of the Duché of Milan during second half of the Quattrocento.

The Condottiere Tuscan François Sforza, future duke of Milan, had married, in 1418, Polissena Ruffo, girl of the count of Corigliano and countess of Montalto. Following the death of his wife in 1420, it manages its strongholds of Cosenza, Rossano and Petilia Policastro and employs, with this intention, Ange Simonetta de Policastro, the uncle de Cicco. In 1421, Cicco, old eleven years, enters to its service, followed soon by his/her younger brothers Andrea, Giovanni and Matteo.

Twenty later, after having fought for Jeanne II of Naples, then for the duke of Milan Philippe Marie Visconti against the pope and Venice, then for the pope against Milan, François Sforza ended up being reconciled with the duke and married his daughter Blanche Marie Visconti in 1441. It is now with the service of the duchy and, with died of the duke, in 1447, it engages near the République Ambrosienne to help it to maintain the unit of the state.

First political use of Cicco Simonetta in September 1448: in company of the brother of this last, it is charged by François Sforza with renegotiating with Venetian agreement concluded the previous year. Energy of success in success, Sforza exceeded this territorial agreement and the revision wishes some. The embassy is a failure, Venetian being inflexible.

The February 26th 1450, Sforza seizes Milan, accommodated by the people which hope to see peace finally arriving. It calls in Milan Angelo Simonetta as a ducal secretary. The nephews Cicco, Andrea and Giovanni follow and become milanais.
While Andrea becomes lord of the manor of Monza, Cicco is seen allotting the stronghold of Sartirana Lomellina close to Alexandria.
In 1452, it marries Elisabetta, girl of Gaspare Visconti of Jerago, secretary ducal like Angelo Simonetta. September 29th, Giovanni Giacomo, the first wire of Cicco and Elisabetta are born with Crémone.

In 1454, the death of nearest collaborator to François Sforza, Andrea Birago, makes it possible Cicco Simonetta to replace it as a first ducal secretary and to thus begin its rise towards the highest responsibilities.

From its marriage with Elisabetta Visconti, were born seven children:
  • Giovanni Giacomo, in 1452, which will become priest
  • Margherita, in 1456, who will marry Guido Galeotto Torelli of Guastalla
